Beyond the Beach: 5 More Things to Do in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is one of the premier vacation destinations in the U.S., thanks in part to its gorgeous stretch of white sand beaches along the Atlantic Ocean. But the beach is not all there is to do in this bustling vacation community.

Club Members can stay at two Club resorts in Myrtle Beach: Hilton Grand Vacations Club at Anderson Ocean Club and the new Ocean 22 by Hilton Grand Vacations Club. We asked the concierge at Ocean 22 what other activities are available nearby. Here’s what they recommend.

  1. Golf
More than 70 golf courses can be found in the Myrtle Beach area. There are courses up and down the Grand Strand for every type of player. If you are a scratch golfer, the concierge recommends the Dunes Club or Grande Dunes. If you just want to play a round, try Myrtlewood, which has one tougher course and another easier course. The concierge can reserve tee times.
  2. Shopping
Myrtle Beach has two unbelievable outlet malls, one on Highway 501 and one on the north end of Myrtle Beach. These are both Tanger Outlets. Coastal Grand Mall, the largest shopping mall in South Carolina, is also in Myrtle Beach.
  3. Broadway at the Beach
This vast entertainment complex features stores, restaurants and other attractions, all set around a great big lake. There are rides, a zip line across the lake, an obstacle course, movie theaters, and WonderWorks, an upside-down house that kids love. You could spend days there.
  4. Murrells Inlet
Another fun thing to do is go to Murrells Inlet, about 30 minutes south of Myrtle Beach. This historic village is known as “The Seafood Capital of South Carolina,” and you’ll find all types of restaurants along its famous MarshWalk, a half-mile boardwalk overlooking the saltmarsh.
  5. The Carolina Opry
One of Myrtle Beach’s most acclaimed attractions is The Carolina Opry, a live music experience featuring some of the nation’s best singers and dancers. Shows begin nightly at 7 p.m. and include everything from Broadway to country to comedy. In November and December, the theater is transformed into a winter wonderland for The Carolina Opry Christmas Special.
