3 Ways to Keep Busy While on the Road This Holiday Weekend

Traveling for the Fourth of July holiday? You aren’t the only one. According to a recent report by AAA, record travel volume is expected this Fourth of July, with 43 million Americans hitting the roads, rails, and skies—5 million more than this past Memorial Day weekend.

And thanks to gas prices hitting a recent low, you can expect many of those travelers to get where they’re going by car—a convenient mode of transportation, but one with certain obstacles (namely, traffic). But never fear—life is a journey, not a destination, so in the case of vacation, it matters how you get there just as much as where you go!

Instead of letting vacation begin the moment you check into your Club resort, why not let it start the moment your foot hits the gas pedal? Here’s how you can make the most of your journey by car to a Fourth of July holiday you’ll never forget. Just be sure to drive safely!

Let’s Play a Game

Particularly if you’re traveling with little ones, one of the most exciting ways to distract from too much time in the car is with a series of games! And while you’re at it, why not make those games of the educational variety? Look for the United States’ varied license plates, quiz your kids on the history of your destination, or try the classics like 20 Questions or Telephone. For a fun list of ideas, see here.

Make a Playlist

What better way to while the drive away than with some good tunes? If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out our Club Traveler destination playlists, do so here!

There’s an App for That

From GPS to travel games to where to get the cheapest gas, there are a number of apps that can make your highway trip so much easier than it used to be! For some of the best apps for your road trip, check out some of our recent Club Traveler suggestions here.
